LOVE is in the air in Knutsford.

Children from Princess Street Pre-school put their heart and soul into creating a sweet window display for Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe.
Julia Chard, owner of the King Street shop, invited all 29 pre-schoolers to make heart designs to hang in the window in celebration of Valentine’s Day.

She said: “We are known for our window displays and it is something I like to involve the community in.

“I previously had Mobberley Primary School create a display for Mother’s Day and it was decorated with flowers and butterflies and it’s something I would like to do more and more.”

Princess Street Pre-school have been hosting an annual Valentine’s Disco for over four decades and their 2014 disco takes place this Saturday at Knutsford Methodist Church Hall.

Julia said that the window display was an ideal opportunity to complement the long-standing tradition and recognise the pre-school’s efforts.

Lucy Davies, Supervisor at Princess Street Pre-school, said: “The children were really excited. It was really fun and it was great for the children to see what they had done. It’s great for their self-esteem and it made me really proud.”

To make the deal even sweeter, Julia is giving a free bag of sweets to children who point out their design when they pay a visit to the shop with the families.

“It’s been great - all the little kids have been coming in for their pick-a-mix and the mummies get to see what they have done which is nice,” Julia added.

“If you have a heart in the shop and haven’t got your free bag of sweets yet just pop in.”

Princess Street Pre-school Valentine’s Disco will take place from 10am to midday on February 15 and will feature Jo Jingles, cake stalls, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe and other attractions.

Tickets cost £2.50 per child and adults go free. Call the pre-school on 07949 169804 for more information.
