KNUTSFORD Star Choir, one of the most successful choirs in Cheshire, has raised more than £3,000 in 2013 for a number of local charities, from concerts, events and wedding performances.

The annual Christmas concert at Knutsford Methodist Church in December was a great end to a brilliant year and the choir thanks all those who came along and supported the event.

Nick Montague, musical director who founded the choir in 2010, said he was delighted with how the choir has grown and become a fixture in Knutsford and surrounding areas.

“In 2013, we entered our first competition, the Alderley Edge Music Festival and came second, held our summer concert at Toft Cricket Club, sang at several weddings and Christmas events at Capesthorne Hall and Tatton Park,” he said.

“In total, we have raised more than £3,000 for a number of local charities, including the Children's Adventure Farm Trust.

"Although we have been a ladies choir for four years, we are now inviting men to join us.

“No auditions, no pressure, so any budding tenor and bass singers looking for a fun choir to join can be assured of a warm welcome. We meet every Thursday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Music Room at Knutsford Leisure Centre."
