KNUTSFORD fitness enthusiasts will soon have a brand new state-of-the-art gym to work out in the heart of the town centre.
The Knutsford Gym will be launched in eight to 10 weeks by former professional sportsmen Jimmy Irlam and Ben Morris.
Set to open up in the former hot tub showroom in Malt Street – which had previously been earmarked by pizza giant Dominos – the pair, who already run IM Elite Fitness at Colshaw Hall, said they saw a gap in the market to open a ‘proper’ gym that people can train in.
“There is nowhere in Knutsford where people can go and train on their own with proper weights at an affordable price,” Jimmy said.
“Before setting up IM Elite I would have to travel to Wilmslow to find a decent enough gym with the right equipment.
“There are plenty of health clubs in Knutsford which are great if that’s what you want and can afford but if you’re after a great gym to just train in with an extensive range of equipment, there isn’t anywhere.
“The Knutsford Gym will fill this void.”
The new gym will comprise of top of the range Hammer Strength equipment, treadmills, cross trainers, an Olympic lifting power rack, battle ropes, fully functional flooring space and much more.
Jimmy added: “I train using heavy weights and the most I could train with in the area went up to 32kg dumbbells.
“We are looking to change that and will have 50kg dumbbell weights on offer to those who want it but it’s not just for people who want to lift heavy weights, the gym is limitless and appeals to anyone like us who want to train using the best equipment available.
“The Knutsford Gym is all about the training, there’s no spa and the changing facilities are basic so that we could emphasize the gym area and make the most of the space.”
Membership is £39.99 a month in addition to a £29.99 sign up fee but there will be a special offer of £36.99 as well as the starter fee if people sign up before the official opening date.
