A FAMILY run Mobberley farm is hoping to prove a hit with want-to-be brides and grooms after transforming an old barn into a unique wedding venue.
Dan Morgan identified the barn as a potential wedding venue and something that would bring a new dimension to Owen House Farm.
The venue at the fully-operational livestock farm was completed at the end of last year and Dan feels it maintains a rustic and countryside charm that provides a unique wedding experience.
“It was changing the farm really, we felt we had to identify something new,” he said.
“After converting the barn we had three or four weddings, but wanted to make sure the process was right before publicising it properly, so we’d kept it pretty quiet.
“We had to apply for the change of use and, after getting our premises license to sell alcohol, have got all sorts of local people involved – we’re using micro breweries form Knutsford and Mobberley.”
Photography lecturer Dan is no stranger to new ventures after previously opening The Freemasons Arms in Knutsford and is looking forward to a productive year.
“I own a pub in Knutsford already, so it wasn’t totally new. It’s good because I think there are lots of people from Knutsford wanting events planned.
“We’ve got 14 weddings booked in now, most of which are scheduled in for during the summer.
“It’s all going well at the moment and hopefully we’ll have a good year.”
