A HOLMES Chapel business is set to go national after a year of tyre-less work.

Tyresonthedrive.com has gone from strength to strength since it was established in 2011 but 2013 has seen the company really make a name for itself in the car industry.

The company, based on Station Road, has been ranked 24th in the start-ups.co.uk list of top 100 startups of 2013.

It has also been named as the top ranked site on TrustPilot.co.uk for tyres and came second place under the blanket category of ‘transportation’.

Jans Vels Jensen, CMO of Trustpilot, said: “A business’s reputation is in the hands of its consumers, and online reviews are an increasingly important way to manage customer feedback and demonstrate transparent engagement on a case by case basis.

“We are pleased that UK businesses are constantly evaluating ways to improve customer service, and understanding the level of influence peer-to-peer reviews are giving on the online world.”

Tyresonthedrive.com allows customers to book their service online and choose the location they would like to have their tyres fitted at. By entering their car’s registration number, customers can pick the right tyre and get an instant price comparison online before picking a time and place to meet a technician.

The Cheshire-wide company has a projected turnover of £5.7m this year and is now expanding into other regions.

Yorkshire and the South East will be the first areas to benefit from the expansion and using an investment of £1.5m from MMC Ventures, the company will be doubling their fleet of vans and technicians.

Investment Director for MMC Ventures, Rory Stirling, said: “We have been hugely impressed with the growth of the business to date and look forward to helping management build a market-leading national business.

“We believe the Tyres on the Drive model is very disruptive to the existing tyre retail market and provides customers with a far superior offering.”

While it's great that a (originally located) Holmes Chapel business is doing well, I've not had a pleasant experience with the company. My wife had four tyres replaced by Tyresonthedrive.com. After a few days we noticed the front tyre started going down. Tyresonthedrive.com wanted £20 to replace the valve (which they replaced when the replaced the tyre) - even when we arrived at their garage in Holmes Chapel so they didn't even need to do a "call out".

Burns Garage in Congleton replaced it free of charge. Seems like one company wants to make money, while the other wants to keep customers.
