THE Friends of Tabley ended another successful season with a traditional carol concert in St Peter’s Church on December 12.
Almost 100 people turned out to hear The Border Singers’ packed programme, which included traditional carols and works by John Tavener.
Music was interspersed with readings; Bible readings, a piece about Sebastopol pudding from the Crimean War, and the world premiere of a 1647 poem by Sir Peter Leicester.
The Border Singers will be returning in July for a summer concert. Other Friends’ events for 2014 include a visit to the snowdrops at Rode Hall, an AGM with a talk about Tabley’s Chapel and a concert of Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell inspired music.
