KNUTSFORDIANS are being invited to raise a toast to the town’s new beer-rilliant event.

The dates for the Knutsford Beer Festival (KBF) have been announced as Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5 2014 and organisers are confident the two-event will attract crowds from all over Cheshire and the North West.

“Cheshire is a county with a rich tradition of brewing beer, which continues to increase’” said Clr Andrew Malloy, the driving force behind the beer festival.

“For me a good quality beer festival is the kind of cultural event that is ideal for an historic market town like Knutsford, continuing its long tradition of exhibiting great produce.

“This event will be ideal for the town as a food and drink destination of choice for many from surrounding areas, providing further opportunities for local businesses to promote themselves to a wider audience, and attract more visitors to the town.”

Clr Molloy added that the event would provide an ideal opportunity for some of the lesser known brewers to make their name known to a new audience.
The much-anticipated event will be held in the Old Town Hall on Princess Street.

Paul Langley, who is arranging the entertainment for the festival, said:

“Thanks to the support of Tatton Estate Management, we’ve got a great venue in the town centre, close to the railway station.

“We’ve got a variety of entertainment planned which will add to the atmosphere of what promises to be a great festival.”

The festival will raise money to support the Knutsford Town Mayor’s charities; the Knutsford and District Lions Club and Cheshire Search and Rescue.

Lisa Benskin, KBF secretary, said: “In order to maximise the money we raise for the Mayor’s charities, we are hoping local businesses will help us defray the costs of staging the festival by sponsoring elements of the event.”
