JUDGES of this year’s Knutsford Christmas window competition were bowled over by the winner’s spec-tacular and eye-catching display.

Wendy Diddams Opticians have been announced as this year’s winner after impressing judges with a colourful display of Christmas Decorations made by schoolchildren.

The Minshull Street opticians were praised for involving the community and featuring their product with characters in the window all wearing glasses.

On receiving the certificate and cup, owner Wendy said: “I am very surprised and pleased – it’s lovely for us and the children that were involved. I’m thrilled.”

The competition’s judges, Town Mayor Clr Barbara Coan and Deputy Mayor Clr Neil Forbes, had a difficult time choosing a winner due to the number of ‘fantastic displays’ on show this year.

“It took Clr Forbes and I a long time to agree on the three winners for this year’s competition,” said Clr Coan.

“We both created a shortlist of five windows to try and help make the decision easier but they both featured five different shops.”

Second place went to Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe and the Cha Bar came in a close third.

The Children’s Adventure Farm Shop on Canute Place was named winner of the Best Charity Shop category.

“The effort that our traders go to really helps make Knutsford such a special place at Christmas. It is a great to see that yet again they have done our town proud and creating some fantastic displays,” Clr Coan added.
