BUDDING sports journalists had a chance to put their skills to the test when ex-Stoke City footballer Danny Higginbotham stopped by Knutsford Academy last Thursday.
Students with an interest in broadcast media participated in a project on December 12 which was led by Sports Business – one of the new Studio School’s external business partners.
The students were introduced to professional interview skills by Dominic McGuinness, a freelance journalist and reporter for TalkSport, and then held a press conference with Danny, who began his career at Manchester United.
They interviewed him about his career to date including recently becoming captain of the Gibraltar national team.
Clare Turner, Head of Media Studies at Knutsford Academy, said: “The workshop was a fantastic success with the students really enjoying the exciting opportunity to work closely with professionals in the broadcast media.
“These types of opportunities are central to the vision of TheStudio@Knutsford where all learners will be able to apply their skills to real life situations and communicate with people working in industry."
