THE charity that saves lives at sea is ‘grateful’ to Booths customers who helped them raise almost £800 at a recent collection.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) set up at the supermarket for the two-day collection and a grand total of £796 was raised in donations.

Event organiser Ed Drake thanked Booths for their continued support and shoppers for their generosity.

The funds raised will be sent to the RNLI head office and will go towards a new boathouse at Porthdinllaen, near Nefyn, in North Wales, which is to be completed soon.

Ed added that the Knutsford Committee of the RNLI is on the lookout for more volunteers.

He said: “We are a small, fun and friendly bunch of boat enthusiasts committed to doing what we can to support this great cause by organising fund-raising events.

“We could always do with more people to join us. You don’t need any special skills – just a few hours to spare a year and plenty of enthusiasm.”

Anyone interested in finding out more information can contact Ed on 07809 471283 or there will be an opportunity to chat to members of the committee at the next meeting at the Legh Arms on Brook Street on January 15 at 8pm.
