DAMES and villains filled the Curzon with shrieks of delight and fright on Saturday afternoon.

The Knutsford Christmas pantomime made its premiere in the Cranford Suite on November 30 and over 200 people poured indoors to enjoy the show.

Organised by new Knutsford business ER Events, and sponsored by Peaks and Plains Housing Trust, children of all ages were transfixed by TaleGate Theatre’s performance of Aladdin.

Husband and wife team, David and Emma Heffernan, were delighted with the audience’s response to the pantomime.

“It was great to see everyone joining in, laughing and having a fun afternoon,” said David.

“Thanks to Peaks and Plains’ sponsorship we were able to keep prices down. We’d also like to thanks Mr Simms Sweet Shoppe for selling tickets for the event and selling sweets and drinks at the venue which proved very popular.”

At the end of the show Emma and David presented a cheque for £250 to Niamh Curbishley and her family which will go towards sponsoring a room in her name at Ronald McDonald House in Manchester.

Niamh was diagnosed with leukaemia earlier this year and fundraisers aim to collect £5,000 for the house, which has provided her family with somewhere to stay while she is in hospital.

Niamh’s mum Schula thanked Emma and David for making her daughter part of the pantomime and said Niamh had an amazing afternoon.

“They made her feel so special when they presented the huge cheque for Ronald McDonald House. We are so grateful for David and Emma’s support,” she added.

ER events also ran a Christmas Craft Market in the Cranford Suite the following day, December 1, which also proved a festive success.

"We had a steady stream of people coming through the door to do their Christmas shopping," said Emma.

"The stalls were beautifully turned out with jewellery, Christmas wreaths, handbags, etc n sale and for the children, face painters and sand art. Cat Allen entertained with Christmas Carols and festive songs, and Father Christmas dropped in to hand out sweets and presents."
