BRAVE Knutsford youngster Niamh Curbishley was invited to switch on the Christmas lights at a Lower Peover pub on Friday, transforming the site and its surroundings into a festive wonderland.

The Bells of Peover teamed up with the Guardian to find a town resident who deserved to carry out the task and sample the pub’s new festive menu.

Hearing of Niamh’s recent diagnosis of leukaemia and her continuous fundraising for Ronald McDonald House, The Bells of Peover invited the eight-year-old and her family to enjoy a delightful evening of festive fun.

Niamh said: “I have been so excited to come to The Bells of Peover and to switch on its Christmas lights. It looks really magical.”

Andre Sievers, the general manager at The Bells of Peover, said: “Our Christmas lights are very special to us, and so we wanted a deserving local person to do the honours of switching them on.

“Niamh has been through such a lot over the past few months and we wanted to give something back to her and her family.”

Niamh and her family are busy trying to reach their fundraising target of £5,000 for her chosen charity, Ronald McDonald House, a charity that provides home away from home accommodation at hospitals across the country for the relatives of sick children.
