5TH Knutsford Beaver Scouts enjoyed a yoga training session at their meeting this week, when Yoga teacher Rebecca Tratalos, from the Knutsford Iyengar Yoga Centre came to share her skills and experience.
Taking the boys through a series of moves from Mountain pose to Eagle, Rebecca explained how practising yoga would help maintain their fitness for life, saying that more than half the boys’ fathers wouldn’t be able to get their bodies into even a close approximation of some of these poses.
Rebecca, who also volunteers for homeless charity Lifeshare, in Manchester, asked if any of the boys could bring in donations for the shelter, and was thrilled with the response.
“At this time of year we need warm clothes, blankets, sleeping bag, etc,” she said.
“The items brought in by the boys from the Sioux and Apache Colonies at 5th Knutsford Beaver Scouts will make such a difference.”
Ros Hobson, Beaver Scout leader, added: “It’s been a marvellous evening; we’ve learned a lot, not least that 24 boys can be quiet and still, which isn’t what usually happens here, a huge thank you to Rebecca.”
