A KNUTSFORD pub in the town centre has submitted plans to create a new dining room and outdoor seating area at the rear of the property.

The Old Sessions House wants approval to convert an existing garage area into a dining space to then provide a link to a new outdoor drinking area on the existing staff car park to the rear of the premises

Dave Mooney, from the Old Sessions House in Canute Place, told the Guardian the plans had gone in as the pub was ‘the only place in Knutsford without an outside seating area’.

“All we want to do is bring it in line with the other establishments in Knutsford,” he said.

“There doesn’t seem to be a problem with anyone else having an outdoor area and we want one too. There’s only four residents that live local and three of them are regulars so they knew what was coming.

“We’ve had accoustic engineers doing tests this week and there’s no music going to be played outside. All we want to do is have an area where people can go and sit outside.

“It will be beautifully built and the engineers say there will be no noise and it will look better than it does now. In our minds we are improving the area.”

The plans were submitted to Cheshire East Council on November 27 and residents have until December 18 to submit comments.
