KNUTSFORD residents are invited to come along to an open day at a farm to see how the town’s dairy produces its milk.

In March a deal was struck between Sheldons Dairy and Alan Norbury at Booths Hall Farm, which means the milk being delivered and found on Knutsfordians’ doorsteps has been produced by cows down the road.

Alan, based at the farm on Chelford Road, Knutsford, has a herd of 160 cows and won a champion award for his herd in 2010.

John Sheldon, from the Parkgate-based dairy, said the pair had got their heads together to stage an open day on Sunday, December 8 between 1pm and 3pm to show families and residents how the milk is produced.

“Alan will show people around the farm for 30 minutes and we’ll do four groups,” he said.

“There will be something for the kids and they will absolutely love it. When we went up there earlier this year Alan suggested for people to come up and see where their pint of milk comes from.

“Alan supplies Creamline, who supply us, and they want to keep the processing within 30 miles of where the milk comes from. We want to keep it close to home as we want to keep Knutsford farmers going.

“There are numerous farms that aren’t here any more because they haven’t been able to make any money.”

The dairy’s horse (Trigger) and cart, seen every year at Knutsford Royal May Day, will be offering lifts around the farm for guests.
