THE owner of a Holmes Chapel tea business will be heading to London this week to march in front of The Queen as part of the Remembrance Day service.

James Green, the owner of Tea from the Manor, on Manor Lane in the village, will be heading to the event on Sunday.

James, who joined the 3rd Regiment Royal Horse Artillery when he was 16, was one of 60 people selected by military officials to march past The Queen at the cenotaph in the capital this weekend.

During his time in service he was stationed in Cyprus, Northern Ireland and Hong Kong.

James told the Guardian it was a ‘massive honour’ to have been selected.

“We were given the opportunity to march in front of The Queen and the regiment said they had 60 places,” he said.

“I go every year to the Holmes Chapel service, but this is such a massive honour to have been chosen. It’s been great polishing my medals and getting my coat and boots ready – I’ve been shining them for four weeks.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing for me and for everyone.

“I’ve told my family and friends but no-one else from the Cheshire area is going.

“There’s a couple who I used to serve with who are now based in London.”

James added that one of his workers had summed the invitation up in the words of a football fan.

“We’ve got a really big Man Utd fan here in the office and he said to me it’s like being invited to the FA Cup Final and being asked to pick up the trophy when they’ve won it,” he said.
