Engineering work to halt trains over the weekend
RAIL users will experience disruption to their journeys this weekend as major engineering work on the Mid Cheshire Line is set to halt normal train services.
National Rail has confirmed there will be no train services on Saturday and Sunday at stations along the Mid Cheshire Line between Chester and Manchester.
The disruption is due to engineering work taking place between Plumley and Cuddington, and stations affected include Delamere, Cuddington, Greenbank, Northwich, Lostock Gralam, Plumley, Knutsford and Mobberley.
Passengers are being urged to plan their journeys more carefully and to leave more time to get to their destination.
John Hulme, vice-chairman of the Mid Cheshire Rail Users Association, said: “Our local Mid Cheshire Line will be closed this weekend when essential engineering works take place to improve the line.
“Those looking to travel by rail should check their travel plans very carefully.
“Whilst all train services are replaced by buses, the buses will depart at a later time and your journey will take longer.”
A replacement bus service will be made available for passengers and the last evening train to Chester on Friday will also be a bus service.
Normal service will resume in time for Monday morning rush hour on October 28.
Details of the changes in service can be found at local train stations, by calling National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950 or by visiting nationalrail.co.uk.
