Elderly woman critical after A50 High Legh collision
AN 86-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital after a car collided with a HGV in High Legh yesterday afternoon.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision on the A50 Knutsford Road, at the High Legh junction with the B5159 West Lane, outside High Legh Village Hall.
Just after midday on Monday, October 14, a silver Honda Jazz collided with an articulated Volvo HGV.
The car left the carriageway and collided with a wall outside High Leigh Village Hall before rebounding back into the carriageway.
Two people in the car, both believed to be from the Manchester area, were taken to Wythenshawe hospital.
An 86-year-old woman is in a critical condition and an 87-year-old man suffered serious injuries but is not considered life threatening.
The driver of the HGV was not injured but was suffering from shock.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 356 of 14 October.
