Jeremy jets off thanks to garage help
A BUCKLOW Hill garage swooped in to save the (holi)day by getting a stranded couple to the airport just in time.
Jeremy Pinnock and his partner Joane Julien, from Warwickshire, were due to jet off on a £1,500 sun holiday in Fuerteventura on September 25.
However, a spanner was put in the works and their week’s holiday put in jeopardy when their Mercedes broke down on the way to Manchester Airport – an hour and a half before boarding.
Jeremy, a sales director, said: “I felt pig sick. Although you think you have got quite a bit of time, when you’re stuck on the side of the road and the rescue truck is taking an hour to come, you start to panic.”
Stuck on the A556 with a boot full of luggage, Jeremy called Green Flag who then towed the car to nearby Bucklow Garage – the holidaymakers’ rescuers.
“A very helpful Philip Daniels and his director Clive Worswick took the car off me, got me a taxi to the airport – even offered to drive – so I didn’t miss my flight and whilst away on holiday they got the problems fixed and my car was ready and waiting for me on my return,” said Jeremy.
“To miss a holiday is a pretty stressful thought for everyone. I am in the service industry and we all expect to be treated efficiently and with courtesy and helpfulness.
“At Bucklow Garage – Clive, Philip and their mechanic – all proved my faith in good service; that it does still exist, even in the most stressful of situations.”
The good service didn’t stop when Jeremy and Joane landed home.
“Philip even loaded the luggage in the car for me – now that’s what I call service,” said Jeremy.
“We were so lucky. The car couldn’t have conked outside a nicer garage with nicer people. They went out of their way to be helpful.”
Clive from Bucklow Garage said he was happy that the garage could help in the holidaymakers’ ‘hour of need’, adding it is ‘all part of the service’.
