Half cut creation is a winner in village scarecrow competition
MOBBERLEY’S first ever Scarecrow Festival proved a frighteningly good success with floods of visitors coming to the village to catch a glimpse of the stuffed characters.
Nearly 30 villagers let their imagination run wild, creating a variety of characters, from witches and penguins to pilots and superheroes, and pinning them up around the village for everyone to see.
The festival wrapped up on October 13 and the winners were decided by two judging panels.
A committee from Sunrise Senior Living Care Home and a group of children from Mobberley Primary School made tours of the village picking their favourite scarecrows.
The winners, including Sally Kindle with her ‘Drunk on the Privet’ scarecrow, were presented with rosettes from the festival co-ordinator, Clr Julie Collins.
Clr Collins told the Guardian: “I want to say thank you so much to everyone who entered and we hope that the festival will be bigger and better next year. “It was just amazing.”
