Portraits of retailers to be unwrapped
A NEW photographic exhibition is to cast a new light onto the faces which people see when they shop in Knutsford’s independent stores.
Organised by the Promote Knutsford Forum (PKF), the Knutsfordian exhibition features portraits of 16 retailers who will be as surprised as their customers when they see how they’ve been portrayed.
“The sitters haven’t seen the photos, just me and the people at Canvas Print who have printed the portraits,” said photographer Paul Worpole.
Each has been wrapped in brown paper and will be unwrapped at the invitation-only launch event on Tuesday, October 1 at the Old Town Hall.
“I'm looking forward to seeing their expressions as each portrait is unveiled,” said Paul. “But I’m also looking forward to hearing the feedback when shoppers see them during the rest of the exhibition.”
The public exhibition at the Old Town Hall is open from Wednesday, October 2 to Friday, October 4 from noon until 7pm, and on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 from 11am until 4pm.
Entrance to the photographic exhibition is free.
“There is so much emphasis on High Street shops that it is good to be able to celebrate the people behind the businesses with the Knutsfordian exhibition,” said PKF spokesman Sarah Flannery.
“Having produced the Shoppers’ Map, this is the first event to be arranged by PKF and, as more ideas are in the pipeline, this is a great time for people to join the Forum.
“It’s open to all, and we welcome anybody who is interested in promoting the local economy and quality of life in Knutsford as a place to do business, a place to live, a place to work, and a place to visit.”
