Goosefest ticket sales off to a brisk start
12:40pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
ORGANISERS of the seventh Goosfest report ticket sales for the 11-day art and music festival have got off to a brisk start.
The programme features 24 events at nine venues in and around Goostrey between October 3 and 14.
The headline act Kiki Dee in concert with Carmelo Luggeri, at Terra Nova School on Sunday, October 13 has almost sold out, and organisers have had to change the venue for the play, Jordan, from the sports pavilion to the larger village hall because of demand.
There are still tickets available for many of the other events, including an evening with Barnsley poet Ian McMillan and cartoonist Tony Husband; a Cotton Club jazz night featuring 52 Skidoo; a rock night featuring Dazed and Confused and a musical comedy night featuring songs from Noel Coward.
Bill Ollier, one of the organisers, said: “Overall we have slightly fewer tickets to sell this year but in the first week of general sales we have sold almost the same percentage has we did 12 months ago.
“Because we only aim to break even on the whole event we can keep ticket prices to a minimum, which means Goosfest offers great value for money. Interestingly, last year on total sales of more than £25,000 we made a surplus of just £295 which we used to help set up this year’s festival.”
Tickets for all events are available through the website – goosfest.com – or from the box office on 01477 535367.
