Jazz band celebrates swinging success for hospice
3:00pm Wednesday 28th August 2013 in News
ONE of the north west’s most popular and long-established jazz bands is celebrating raising £10,000 for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice with 10 years of concerts hosted by the hospice’s Holmes Chapel Support Group.
For the last decade, the Mart Rodger Manchester Jazz band has performed two or three shows a year at Goostrey Village Hall, and every event – hosted by the support group – has been enormously popular with Cheshire music lovers.
On July 20, St Luke’s volunteers joined the party as the hospice’s Diane Eeley received a cheque for £10,000 from band founder Mart Rodger.
Diane said: “Over £6,500 a day is needed for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice to open its doors and the majority of that money is found through our wonderful network of passionate supporters such as the Holmes Chapel Support Group.
“Both the support group and the Mart Rodger Manchester Jazz Band have been great supporters of the hospice and I’m incredibly proud of the success of these wonderful concerts.”
