THE Chancellor popped into a Knutsford restaurant last month to have a chat with some of the area’s growing firms.
DG Thompson International, based in Plumley and a leading exporter of wine and spirits to South East Asia, organised a lunch on July 24 on behalf of the UK Trade and Investment Export Champions with George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Led by managing director David Thompson, DGT International is one of 30 north west export champions; a group of prolific exporters being asked to help stimulate international trade and mentor other companies to expand overseas.
Speaking at the event held at Piccolino’s in Knutsford, the Chancellor vowed to ‘look carefully’ at plans to introduce a tax break for UK exporters but also re-stated ‘my general approach has been to get the overall tax rate down, by reducing corporation tax for example’.
