Beer festival plans are gathering steam
8:10am Friday 23rd August 2013 in News
IT might be eight months away but the organisers of Knutsford Beer Festival are already looking forward to pulling the first pint.
A group of six volunteers, headed by Clr Andrew Malloy, is hoping to hold the two-day event in April next year and once they have secured a town centre location the committee will be able to set a date.
There will be a wide selection of local beers and ales as well as wine and cider on offer during the festival and it is hoped that a large number of microbreweries will want to get involved.
Clr Malloy said: “Things are moving in the right direction.
“I’ve wanted to hold a beer festival in the centre of Knutsford for a number of years and I’m really excited that it’s finally taking shape.
“There used to be a similar event a few years ago and we will be speaking to the people involved to see whether they have any advice for us so we can make this one a success.
“The date of the festival will depend on the location but we are very keen for it to be central Knutsford and on a Friday and Saturday.”
The 2014 beer festival will be a charitable event and any proceeds will go towards the mayor’s charity.
Clr Malloy added: “This is a fantastic idea and one which we’re all really excited about.
“Once we pull that first pint, it will be great.”
A website for the coming festival has been created at knutsfordbeerfestival.org.uk.
