Tug of war challenge event will raise money for hospice
8:00am Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
CHELFORD Village Hall will be staging a tug of war challenge next month in aid of charity.
On Sunday, September 8, Bosley Tug of War Club is organising a six-a-side charity tug of war competition in aid of the East Cheshire Hospice.
The event will take place at Chelford Village Hall, starting at 11am, and everyone is encouraged to get a team together and take part.
It is open to everyone including pub teams, businesses, community groups, other sports teams or just groups of friends.
The entry fee per team is £10 with all proceeds going to the East Cheshire Hospice.
The event will also include a bar and barbeque and a raffle as well as other activities and everyone is encouraged to come along and show their support.
Alan Knott, a member of the Bosley club, said: “We are hoping to encourage as many teams as we can to take part in this great event.
“It will be a good social event and we can guarantee that everyone will enjoy taking part in a sport which they might never have tried before.
“The event will run alongside an official Tug of War Association competition, so as well as taking part in the charity tug of war event, participants will also be able to see some of the best teams in the country competing in a separate event, which will be their final competition before they go on to compete at the European Tug of War Championships in Holland in September.
“Unfortunately we had to cancel the event last year because of the excessive amount of rain we had, so we are looking forward to running a successful and well supported event this year.”
In order to enter a team, please contact Alan Knott on 07976 591222 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
Entry forms are also available via the Bosley Tug of War Club web site at bosleytugofwar.co.uk.
