Online directory will promote groups to residents and visitors
IF you are involved in a community group in Knutsford the town council wants to hear from you.
Knutsford Town Council is compiling a directory of all the groups across the town.
There is no definitive list of what groups operate within Knutsford, and the town council is aiming to produce an online resource to help promote and raise awareness of every club, society and organisation.
The information will be published on the community section of the town council website and aims to give residents – and newcomers to the town – a single point of reference.
Adam Keppel-Garner, acting town clerk, said: “We often get inquiries asking about different groups, or for contact information which is something we don’t currently hold.
“Hopefully by getting all the information in one place we will be able to help raise the profiles of the different groups in the town.
“The council is appealing for all community groups, from residents associations and sports clubs to youth clubs and general community groups to get in touch.
“We want it to be as inclusive as possible, so any group or organisation working to the benefit of the town we want included. Bridge clubs, community action groups, football clubs, dance clubs and everything in between.
“Ultimately, we would also like to use the database to increasingly open dialogue between the council and the community.
“One of the first things we will be using the information for is to consult on the town council’s draft strategic plan.”
The town council would like the name of the organisation, the name of the primary contact and position, email address, phone number, website and what the group does, such as youth, sports or leisure.
