MARTHALL is staging its first beer festival to raise money for its village hall.

The committee hopes the festival can help raise funds for a new kitchen, new fencing and improved AV equipment.

Neil Hanlon, who has helped organise the event, said the festival would take place on May 31, from 6.30pm, and June 1, from 12pm to 11.30pm.

“We’ve got low ticket and pint prices, and if we could turn a small profit for the hall that would be excellent,” he said.

“The idea was to try something a bit different to the disco and band, and as fundraisers they tend only to attract people from the village but this can be for everyone.

“We are also looking to attract families by providing lots of free and low cost entertainment for children too.

“We’ll have local beers on offer from Beartown Brewery, Dunham Massey Brewing Company, Mobberley Fine Ales, Northern Brewing, Red Willow, Storm Brewing Co, Tatton Brewery and Weetwood Ales as well as traditional ciders.

“The event would not be possible without our sponsors Sean Corcoran Tree Surgeons, Lymm Truckwash, Ollerton Nursery, MC Garages, Northwich, Spinney Garage, Holmes Chapel, Boons Butchers, Chelford, Chelford Farm Supplies and Chelford Village Shoppe among many more.”

Local bands or musicians interested in performing should email marthall hall@yahoo.co.uk.

A prize six-a-side tug of war competition sponsored by Chelford Farm Supplies will take place on Saturday, June 1. Teams should contact marthallhall@yahoo.co.uk.
