Police urging motorists to take care in wintry weather

SNOWFALL across Cheshire during the night has continued into this morning and police are urging motorists to take extra care.

Snow has created dangerous and slippy road conditions in many areas, particularly Macclesfield, Congleton and the Cat and Fiddle.

But Knutsfordians woke up to clear pavements and roads this morning.

In West Cheshire roads are particularly affected in the Kelsall Hill and A51 areas.

The motorway network is passable with care but delays are to be expected. Please check the Highways Authority website for more updates.

Police are offering the following advice: -Only make journeys that are absolutely necessary.

- Ensure your car is fully defrosted with full visibility.

- Maintain a safe and constant speed and avoid sudden braking that can cause your car to skid.
