George dismisses ‘silly Greenpeace stunt’ George dismisses ‘silly Greenpeace stunt’

KNUTSFORD’S MP has dismissed a protest by Greenpeace in the town over his views on fracking gas as a ‘silly stunt’.

The environmental group descended on the town on Monday, March 4 and set up an elaborate stunt that saw a fictional company ‘Frack and Go’ build a rig on the Little Heath.

But Mr Osborne told the Guardian any shale gas exploration would be controlled and regulated.

“This was a silly stunt by a pressure group trying to alarm people,” he said.

“I want to encourage shale gas exploration because it will cut energy bills for families, but any exploration will be carefully controlled and properly regulated.”
