A FORMER Premiership footballer dropped in to give a Knutsford Scout group a helping hand in its fundraising drive.

Wilmslow resident Robbie Savage, who played for Blackburn Rovers among other clubs, helped out 5th Knutsford Scouts earlier this month.

The group was fundraising for its summer camp in Jersey.

An open day at Total Fitness, Wilmslow – where group leader Graham Bale works – featured cake stalls, a tombola and a game of guess how many sweets in a jar.

The Scouts also took part in a sponsored swim and a two-hour bikeathon in the foyer, which involved manning two spin bikes for eight hours while collecting donations.

Graham said: “Total Fitness organised for Robbie Savage to pop in and show his support, which really made the day for the Scouts. We hope to have raised £1,000, including all sponsored swim monies.”
