HOLMES Chapel residents are being urged to take their cars to their village fire station rather than the car wash on Saturday.
Firefighters, with the help of fire cadets and volunteers, will be out with their buckets and sponges to help raise as much money as they can for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The charity car wash takes place at Holmes Chapel Community Fire Station, and staff will also provide all drivers with road safety advice.
Deputy chief fire officer Mark Cashin said: “The charity car wash is a great way to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, which has provided assistance to serving and retired firefighters for more than 60 years, and to increase awareness of road safety.
“Our firefighters see first hand the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions, and I really hope drivers will go along and support this event as they will not only be helping the Fire Fighters Charity but will also take away vital road safety advice which could save their lives.”
l The charity car wash takes place between 10am and 2pm.
