A GROUND-BREAKING ceremony has been held to herald the village’s new play area.

Cheshire East Mayor, Clr George Walton, was on hand to break the ground for the building of the play area, being created in the grounds of the village hall.

Clr Walton was delighted to be there to see the start of the build after all the village’s hard work.

Kath Gildon, chairman of Chelford Parish Council, said: “Everyone has worked very hard towards this day and the wonderful support of Waste Recycling Environment (WREN) has made the dream come true.”

Peter Cox, managing director of WREN, said: “This project will provide a fantastic space for local people to get outdoors and enjoy sport in a fun, social setting.”
