A KNUTSFORD choir is daring a former town mayor to sing – all in aid of Comic Relief.

On Monday, March 11, Knutsford Rock Choir members will be joined by a very special guest singer – former town mayor Clr Stewart Gardiner.

He will be taking part in a fun dare to help raise money and awareness for Red Nose Day.

Kathryn Davies, rock choir leader, said: “This year, the theme for Red Nose Day is to ‘do something funny for money’, and there are several ways to fundraise, including ‘Entertain’, ‘Dare’ and ‘Go Eighties’.

“We thought it would be a great idea to combine all three, by ‘daring the Mayor’ to sing with us in an 80s-themed performance.

Unfortunately, the current Mayor, Clr Vivien Davies, was not available, but we're delighted that Clr Gardiner has agreed to step in and take up the challenge.

“We’re hoping our fun event will inspire people to donate money to Red Nose Day.”

Clr Gardiner will join choir members to perform the 80s hit Take On Me by A-ha, as well as lots more songs from Rock Choir’s feel good repertoire.

The performance will take place in the Cranford Suite at Knutsford Civic Centre from 7.45pm.
