HOMEOWNERS in Knutsford and surrounding villages heard the latest on when superfast broadband will be installed in their homes on Friday.
George Osborne, Tatton MP, organised a public meeting focusing on the broadband issue at Marthall Village Hall on March 1.
Mr Osborne said: “I am passionate about getting superfast broadband to the rural parts of my constituency.
“It helps families access new technology and supports businesses in rural areas. So I organised this meeting in Marthall because I wanted to give local people, and their parish councils, a chance to speak directly to BT and Cheshire East Council.
“The news is that – if we all work together – then we can bring superfast broadband to the Cheshire countryside.”
He was joined by representatives from Connecting Cheshire – a group set up by Cheshire East Council with other local authorities in a bid to improve broadband in the county – and businesses.
Clr David Brown, from Cheshire East Council, said: “The feedback we got was that Peover should be one of the priority areas. The meeting was packed out and the message was loud and clear – residents want fast broadband as quickly as possible.”
Connecting Cheshire hopes to provide superfast broadband to more than 90 per cent of Cheshire households thanks to a contribution of government and local authority grants.
