Police reveal reason behind King Street car stop

CHESHIRE Police has said 'everything was in order' after a car was stopped in King Street on Wednesday evening by seven police vehicles.

A black Audi A3 was stopped close to the recently opened Istanbul Grill by officers at 10.25pm on Wednesday, February 27.

A man was spoken to by officers but it was the presence of seven police vehicles that took bystanders by surprise.

On Twitter, Arthur Parsons (@arthur_parsons) said: "What was going down in town tonight? Saw 9 police vehicles around town as I was leaving work?"

But Cheshire Police told the Guardian on Friday afternoon: "It was a car which needed to be stopped checked and all was in order.

"The car had recently changed owners."
