Students create their own app n130711
KNUTSFORD Academy students were able to make their own mobile phone apps after teaming up with one of the industry’s main players.
Apadmi, based in Manchester, visited the school to run an ‘App-in-a-day’ workshop with year nine students.
The students’ task was to develop a concept and turn it into a working mobile phone app.
Students published their apps – a music player app – and were able to run them successfully on iPhones.
Garry Partington, from Apadmi, said: “Software development for mobile phones is still growing fast, and we are facing a skills shortage in the future.
“We see this course as a way of getting high school children interested in developing apps, so that in the future the whole industry is not faced with a major shortage of skilled mobile engineers.”
