ALDI has said it will meet with councillors to discuss the new road layout on Brook Street.

The German supermarket giant is building its new store in Knutsford. and concerns were raised by councillors and residents over the roadworks currently taking place.

Temporary traffic signals, combined with a lane closure, will be in place until the end of March.

Cheshire East Council urged the firm to get in touch to understand ‘the scope of the works’.

An Aldi spokesman said: “Road works have started at Brook Street, Knutsford, as part of our regeneration of the site and as a condition of our planning agreement with Cheshire East Council and Knutsford Town Council.

“These works are being carried out for the benefit of local residents and will help to improve journey times and improve pedestrian access. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

“We agreed to meet Cheshire East Council and Knutsford Town Council, but have been awaiting their approval of the proposed traffic management system before this meeting could take place.

“Now the proposed traffic management system has been approved we are happy to confirm a date for this meeting.”
