YVONNE Bancroft has won a seat on Knutsford Town Council after Thursday's by-election.
The chairman of Knutsford in Bloom stood as an independent candidate for Over Ward and received 368 votes.
Conservative Paul Hamilton had 258 votes while UKIP contender Gerald Norden received 100 votes.
A spokesman for Knutsford Town Council said the turnout was 17.9 per cent.
Yvonne will become a town councillor after signing her declaration of office today, Friday.
The election was to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Bernadette Emmett in December.
