MANCHESTER Airport has handed over its contributions to two councils as a result of the runway two compensation deal.
Knutsford Town Council has received a grant of £75,450, while Mobberley Parish Council received £44,500.
Both council’s will use the money to towards its portion of next year’s council tax precept meaning lower bills for residents.
Tatton MP George Osborne was on hand with airport campaigner Jeff Gazzard to accept the cheques with help from Knutsford town mayor Clr Vivien Davies and Mobberley Parish councillors Clr David Bailey and Clr Barry Rushton.
Clr Davies said: “The town council is very appreciative of the grant from the airport which will come off the town precept so everyone in the town can benefit.
“It’s something that everybody from time to time has problems with so this is to show that the airport do care for the people of Knutsford.”
