Bakers are invited to show off their cake-making skills to support Oxfam
9:00am Saturday 2nd February 2013 in News
KNUTSFORD cake makers are being asked to cook up a storm for Oxfam.
Bakers are invited to show off their creations and go head to head against their competitors at Canvas Lounge on Sunday, February 10, between midday and 3pm as part of the charity’s fundraising campaign.
The event is intended to promote Oxfam Get Together, the charity’s work with women around the world who are experiencing poverty, discrimination and domestic violence.
Oxfam helps women reclaim their rights and make their voices heard, from helping girls access schools in Burkina Faso to supporting women farmers in Ethiopia to become entrepreneurs.
Sophie Johnson, Oxfam community fundraiser in the north west, said: “We want as many as possible to turn up with their fabulous cakes at the popular King Street bar.”
Competition prizes include a free face treatment from Dermatologica in Roberta Beauty Redefined in Knutsford, coffees from Orange Cafe and many more.
Sophie said: “It is great to see the Canvas Lounge and so many businesses in Knutsford are already supporting this campaign.”
