Red Cross bosses look at Memorial House future
THE future of Memorial House will be discussed by British Red Cross bosses in the coming months.
Barbara-Anne Walker, operations director for Cheshire, said that despite the nursery’s departure the charity still offered a range of day services – and admitted in-house discussions would take place to determine whether Knutsford was the best place for the organisation.
“We provided first aid at more than 200 events and Memorial House is our headquarters for that as well as health and social care services for more than 3,000 people,” she said.
“It is an important building and there’s lots of history and as part of being a charity we do need to make sure we are in the right place and using our resources most effectively.
“We will look at how we use the building because with Poppies moving out we have a lot of extra space. A group is being formed to talk about whether we should renovate and refurbish or open somewhere else in the country.
“Cheshire is a thriving Red Cross county and any decision needs to be made very carefully.”
