Precept set to rise by 6.5 per cent

HOLMES Chapel Parish Council has decided to raise a precept of £104,584 for the next financial year, starting in April.

This is an increase of 6.5 per cent over the current year.

It is anticipated that an additional grant of £5,423 will be received from Cheshire East Council to compensate for the effect of the localism of council tax support being transferred to local authorities.

The increase is considered necessary to meet new pension payments and to support the council’s projects.

The main projects are the improvement of access to Dane Meadow, improvements to the Middlewich Road play area and supporting Cheshire East Highways with traffic and speeding issues.

In the past month grants have been awarded by P4C (£148,896) towards the Dane Meadow scheme and Wren (£50,000) for the Middlewich Road Play Area.

These grants, with additional capital funding from the parish council, will enable work to be carried out on the schemes later this year.
