A TOWN centre shop was officially opened by the Chancellor this week.

Alex Macleod, a former chartered accountant, opened the Pudding Club, a boutique specialising in maternity wear on Minshull Street, in July 2012.

She e-mailed the Chancellor in 2012 when she founded the business.

She explained how she had decided to set up her own business after being made redundant and invited him along to open the store.

The Tatton MP made the trip into town on Thursday.

Alex said: “As the MP for Tatton and a strong advocate of entrepreneurs, I was delighted that George Osborne accepted my request to come and officially open The Pudding Club.”
