BOOTHS achieved record sales over Christmas with a total increase of 5.61 per cent.
Like-for-like sales rose by 3.48 per cent compared with the same period in 2011 The increase in sales can be attributed to a number of factors including customers planning ahead and ‘trading up’ carefully, selecting the best and spending wisely.
Chris Dee, chief operating officer, said: “Our pre-orders were up by 58 per cent, with customers ordering in advance for the day.
“There was a trend for show-stopper beef roasts this year, as beef sales rose by 39 per cent, and our speciality fish sales saw a rise of 14 per cent.
“Our new Christmas lines of premium craft bakery mince pies were up 24 per cent and stollen up 56 per cent.
“People come to Booths for the best, they trust our quality and our commitment to find the very best suppliers that are producing exceptional food.
“We made it easy to order online and collect in advance of the big day.”
Further indications of a trade upwards at Booths are supported by a 39 per cent increase in smoked salmon sales, a 23 per cent rise in sales of vintage champagne and a 27 per cent increase on magnums of fizz.
