Dad banned after derby day trouble

A TURKEY farmer from Great Warford was also handed a football banning order after running on to the pitch moments after Southfields resident Matthew Stott during the Manchester derby.

Christopher Johnson, 52, of Brandons Poultry Farm on Ancoats Lane, was handed a three-year order and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work for threatening behaviour.

He ran onto the pitch moments after Stott and attempted to provoke the United fans celebrating in the away end before being dragged away and arrested.

The court was told Johnson’s actions disgusted his 24-year-old son who he had gone to the game with.

His solicitor said the incident was a moment of madness from a man who suffered a haemorrhage two years ago and can no longer cope with stressful situations.
