Countryside lovers sought

CHESHIRE East Council is encouraging residents with a passion for rural activities to become members of its new countryside group.

The Cheshire East Local Access Forum will advise the council on how to improve access to countryside activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding.

The group will have four annual meetings, and requires members with a range of interests and experiences, such as land management, the rural economy and nature conservation.

Councillor Rod Menlove said: “We are fortunate to live in a beautiful rural area, and the right of people to get out and enjoy the countryside is vitally important.

“This is why I would encourage anyone who can give up a little of their time to apply.”

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday, February 8, with interviews on Monday, February 25. For more information and an application form call Genni Butler on 01270 686059 or e-mail laf@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
