ORGANISERS of Hermitage Primary School’s annual Christmas fair were ‘astounded’ by the generosity of supporters after raising £3,500.

Youngsters got into the festive spirit by filling jars with sweets and decorating it with a Christmas theme.

Children also enjoyed a teddy tombola, sponsored by Holmes Chapel business Voiceipcomms, while year six pupils sold a cookbook they had researched, produced and marketed themselves.

It featured the school’s favourite tea time treats from parents and teachers.

It even included ex-pupil and popstar Harry Styles’ favourite childhood recipe, toad in the hole, courtesy of his mum Anne.

The festive fun day was organised by the Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA), and was match-funded by Barclays.

Claire Bevan, chairman of the PTFA, said she was astounded by the generosity of parents and businesses in Holmes Chapel and the surrounding area.

She said: “We can’t put into words how important the support from local businesses is to us.

“We have been able to offer some amazing prizes including meals for two, beautiful gift packs, beauty treatments, days out and vouchers for local services.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that made the fair so special.”

“The PTFA would also like to say a special thankyou to the parents at and the friends of the school who are employees at Barclays – it makes every event a really worthwhile venture.”
