TATTON Park’s Home Farm has its own star this Christmas.

The farm has welcomed three-month-old baby donkey, Huw, Tatton Park’s first donkey foal which aptly has a quirky star marking on his forehead.

Huw will be joined by other friendly faces at the farm, including Tatton’s reindeer Prancer and Dancer, Huw’s mum, Seren and his companion donkey, Frosty.

The donkeys and reindeer will have starring roles in the farm’s Christmas activities, and will take centre stage in the traditional live nativity, where specially-selected farm animals are stabled around the nativity scene.

Storyteller Honor Giles will weave winter magic with seasonal tales, and Aunty Mary will be keeping warm in the cottage, making Christmas decorations with visitors who can paint their own in the schoolroom and take them home.

Children’s entertainers will sprinkle some Christmas cheer, and children will be able to ‘have a go’ on a traditional merry-go-round.

Visitors to Home Farm can also see Santa’s spectacular sleigh, crafted by Tatton’s National Trust volunteers, and enjoy live music gathered around the farm’s nativity stable.

Father Christmas will spend Christmas with his elves in his grotto at the farm, busy preparing to welcome children this weekend and next weekend, December 22 and 23.

All children will receive a Christmas gift from Father Christmas and his elves in his magical grotto.

Jayne Chapman, farm manager, said: “Expect a wonderful ‘muletide’ greeting from our new donkey Huw, and a hearty welcome from our reindeer.

“Christmas is a wonderful time of the year for us, and it’s fantastic to see all good boys and girls meeting Father Christmas and enjoying our festively-dressed farm.”
