KNUTSFORD’S students are being urged to apply for a grant which will help to boost their learning while in their final year of university.

The annual Millennium Bursary is now open for applications from students in their second year of higher education.

Applications are being accepted online on the town council’s website, with a deadline of midday on Friday, December 21.

The £300 bursary is the initiative of Knutsford Town Council, is supported by Knutsford Lions Club and has been awarded every year since being founded in 2000.

The bursary is aimed at students who will be going into their third year of higher education in September 2013.

As part of the application applicants must submit a short statement of no more than 200 words demonstrating how the award would benefit their course of study, with reference to how it may help a project or dissertation.

Last year the bursary was awarded to Ellen Creaser, of Summers Way, who is studying architectural studies at the University of Newcastle.

Clr Vivien Davies, town mayor, said: “The town council is pleased to again be inviting students from the area to submit applications for the award of the Millennium Bursary.

“Knutsford Town Council is working with the Knutsford Lions throughout the selection process, and is proud to be able to offer support to the students of our town. I wish all students the best of luck with their applications.”

To be eligible for the bursary applicants must normally reside in Knutsford or Toft.

Informal interviews are due to take place on Wednesday, January 2, and the winner of the bursary will be announced shortly after that date.

Applicants should complete the application online at knutsford towncouncil.gov.uk/council/ millenniumbursary, and can contact the town council on 01565 653 929 or town clerk@knutsford towncouncil.gov.uk if they have any questions.
